Join us for 'A Salute to Fred’s Lounge,' an homage to the iconic Mamou watering hole! We’ll be honoring the spirit of this legendary bar with our own Texas style, as the renowned radio station KVPI broadcasts live from Downtown Bastrop. Get an early morning start on Saturday, February 3rd, enjoying authentic Cajun vibes, lively tunes, and a celebration that brings the heart of Mamou's Fred’s Lounge to life!
The Legend 1050 KVPI is proud to be among the very first radio stations in South Louisiana to program French language programming. In fact, we aired a French newscast on the day we signed on in November 1953 and have continued to the present. We are proud of our Cajun and Creole heritage, our music and our language. We air a french newscast at 7:30am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday and at 7:30am Saturday mornings. The popular Tradio (Swap Shop) is broadcast in French Monday and Saturday mornings at 7:45am. We also air the La Tasse de Cafe call in show Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:45-9:00am. In addition, we program the original Cajun Rendezvous music show Monday through Friday from 4-5:00pm, the Live at Fred's Lounge remote broadcast Saturdays from 9:00-11:00am and Cajun Saturdays, an all day traditional Cajun music marathon from 8:00am to 6:00pm. We are truly the "Voice of the Colorful Cajun Country".
